You’re getting married!

First of all, congratulations! No doubt you are on cloud nine and you feel your wildest dreams are starting to come true. There’s so much to do and you spend countless hours scrolling Instagram and Facebook for wedding inspo. Or do you?

Where do you start?

I won’t lie, I’ve spent the last two hours scrolling through the socials and my photo gallery looking for inspiration to write this blog. I am not sure if I am procrastinating or sincerely looking for inspiration to write. What I do know, is that something has just come over me and I am doing it, I’m writing and it feels like no-one can stop me right now!

This is how wedding planning can feel once you’re on a roll and before you know it, you’re signing up for that $1,500 tuxedo you will never wear again or the $800 veil that is far too long and will be wrapped in a box for the rest of eternity!

Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting, adventurous and pressurised times a newly engaged couple may experience. You want to make sure you don’t let the planning take over and you keep in the forefront of your mind and planning the true intentions for getting married and having a wedding. These are two very different things.

TMC.tip: give yourself enough time to plan, look around and get quotes for what you want to avoid making pressured decisions and spending big money.

3 ways to help you plan

1. Budget

Stay true to yourself and your budget! There is some beautiful work being created by some amazing wedding vendors out there, you will need to consider the following things when planning and work them into your budget.

  • props for rituals in the ceremony
  • meals and refreshments for vendors
  • additional table decor and personalised gifts for guests

2. Source your inspiration from everywhere.

There’s more places to look than online and social media. Look at the colours that surround you, remember the things that make you happy and take some of your favourite memories and weave them into your wedding day.

  • use your favourite colour scheme
  • weave your favourite song into your ceremony
  • honour a family tradition and combine it into your day

3. Be intuitive.

Listen to your gut and what it’s telling you and make decisions with a clear mind.

  • get your vibe first – what are you feeling? what have you always wanted?
  • pause and reflect before saying yes, no or maybe and think if this is right for you?
  • be a warrior not a worrier, your wedding your way
